At that time it was pretty much condemned and the only thing that was open was the bar. I have many memories of hearing the jukebox and Beatles songs playing at night. I could never remember where it was- I live in Tucson and plan on going back to the location soon- thanks for the tip on the location!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01132562845206294215noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5052322390844638722.post-30095476990440745822017-08-31T19:04:08.457-07:002017-08-31T19:04:08.457-07:00I believe there was an interval where Elm Street S...I believe there was an interval where Elm Street School sat unused. The new nearby Challenger Elementary School, located in the old Nogales High School building, served the area after NHS moved northwest of town. The church purchased the unused property, razed the school building and added much-needed parking to their tiny lot.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5052322390844638722.post-72331706054040314362016-09-04T11:52:40.388-07:002016-09-04T11:52:40.388-07:00ck the pimeria alta museumck the pimeria alta museumAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5052322390844638722.post-5390525474192770202016-03-21T17:05:51.288-07:002016-03-21T17:05:51.288-07:00Anyone have more information on Elm Street School....Anyone have more information on Elm Street School. My identification of the Esplendor with the Rancho Grande was based on 1940-50s postcard images of the exact same building labeled "Rancho Grande." But postcards can be wrong, and I have seen other "Rancho Grande" postcards that seem to show a different place.Robert Lucashttp://oldhiways.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5052322390844638722.post-69840077675829853632011-12-08T10:07:36.341-07:002011-12-08T10:07:36.341-07:00Robert..The Rancho Grande was located on the Pataq...Robert..The Rancho Grande was located on the Pataqonia Hwy at about the 2 mile marker. It never had anything to do with Rio Rico which is north of Nogales toward Tucson.<br /> I believe it was purchased by one of the Capins and was razed in the 60's to make way for housing. This may not be accurate but is the way I remember it. I remember going up there with my father while they were selling off the contents..ie..fixtures, windows, pretty much everything that could be salvaged. The foundations and the front steps are there to this day although the original road no longer exists and the area is houses now...still a beautiful view from thereAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5052322390844638722.post-86035909845071287242011-08-11T18:18:44.354-07:002011-08-11T18:18:44.354-07:00Thanks to identification of Elm Street School by A...Thanks to identification of Elm Street School by Anon, I was able to update the caption.
